PART 1 : Chapter 5 Part 1 / Leader's Duty Edit
|……yes, yes. We’ll be very careful from now on. I’m deeply sorry for what happened before.|
|How did the phone call go? Was the person from TRIGGER’s production company angry?|
|Yes…. I’d like to go their office later and formally apologize.
However, thanks to the concert, everyone found their motivation and sense of teamwork again. The results are a silver star.
|They’ve been very good recently. It feels like they’ve torn off all their impurities. (1)|
|It does !|
I believe it's time to move on to the next stage
|Tsumugi-kun. Could you gather them here?|
|Our new song !?|
|Yes. It’s a song fitting of your new sense of unity, and the vigor you have towards your dream.
The most important thing for singing isn’t technique. It’s your heart.
I’ve been waiting a long time for you to be ready to sing this. As you are now, you can sing it perfectly.
|Alright! A new song!|
|I have one more song !|
|They aren’t just yours, you know!|
|Oh, my mistake. We have one more song!|
|You’ll need to learn new choreography, so you’ll be getting busier from now on.
You’ll present your new song at a train station in the center of the city. I’ve already gotten permission to use the area.
Have you prepared yourselves ?
|By the way, there’s something I’d like to ask.|
|What is it ?|
|Who is it that makes our songs?|
|Fufufu. That’s a corporate secret.
Breathe life into these songs, so that many people will hear them.
Everyone, I leave it to you.
|Saying something like it being a corporate secret, even the president is putting on airs.|
|Maybe it’s the president himself that makes them? It felt like he’s emotionally attached to them.|
|Can dad do something like compose music….?
Ah, I apologize. I’ll be going out for a bit.
|Oh, it’s dangerous for a woman to walk alone. I’ll go with you. I’ll be your knight.|
|Ahaha. Oh no, you don’t have to……|
|Oh, that’s unfair, Yamato! Doing something like sneaking out and rendezvousing with Manager…..|
|I was up all night thinking of a date plan. Let me have it this time.|
|Well then, Manager, can you wait out front for me?|
|…..a date…… Did Yamato-san say that seriously?
Normally I can’t really tell what he’s up to, but he is older, and an adult, and surprisingly proactive…..
|Sorry I made you wait.|
|Wah…..! Ah……I-it’s fine. Um……|
|You’re going to TRIGGER’s office to apologize for the other day, right? I’ll go with you.|
|…..you realized…..? I can’t make you come with me. This is my job…..|
|I can’t let you bear the brunt of this alone, can I? Despite appearances, I am technically the leader, after all.
Just think of me like a fender, and let me stand beside you. (2)
|Don’t worry. This isn’t something the others can do, but I’m good at it.
Whenever mud gets thrown at IDOLiSH7, I’ll take it from the front.
You’re a mysterious person, Yamato-san. You seem to like doing things at your own pace, but could it be you actually care about the members the most…..?
|Hold it. If you intend to say embarrassing lines like that, I’ll turn around right now.|
|There we go. That’s a good kid.|
|But please let me say this. Thank you for caring enough to come with me.
This is my first time, so I’m actually nervous. I’ll likely be a burden…..but it’s very reassuring to have you with me.
|Haha….well aren’t you being cute.
Well then, let’s go happily receive our scolding.
(1) 一皮むく (hitokawamuku) literally means “taking a veneer off something”, but when used metaphorically, it means to strip off appearances. For example “they look like a nice old couple on the outside, but when you take that away they’re actually Satan incarnate.” So what Banri is insinuating is that some kind of layer has been stripped off.
(2) I’m not sure how many people immediately jump to fender = prevent mud/dirt/sand/etc from being thrown back by a rotating tire, but that’s the image Yamato is going for here. “Mudguard” seems to be another word, though that’s used in British English? That was the primary definition this word gave me in my dictionary lmao. Basically, I think Yamato’s making a connection between literal mud, and the idea of mudslinging.
